I was in Akron the other day and decided to try The Creperie, a new gourmet crepes and sandwich shop on E. Mill Street downtown.
At first, I thought that the restaurant’s theme might be lost on me, but as I sat there and waited for my friend to arrive, the smell was intoxicating. I arrived at a perfect time because I got to see the transition between the breakfast crepes and lunch crepes.
I listened as people made their selections off the menu. Baked apple, banana split, strawberries and Nutella. Wait, I did say I was there for lunch, right?
Chef Ben and the staff at The Creperie will make just about any crepe you want, but since their menu is so amazing, I recommend you try the combinations they offer before you start to create crepes of your own.
I had the ham and gouda, a warm crepe filled with leoncini herb-roasted ham, mushrooms, chicken and gouda cheese. My friend had the mushroom and spinach crepe, which is filled with mushrooms, spinach, chicken and white cheddar, topped with avocado and pico de gallo. For dessert, we split the special of day, The Crepe Pumpkin. Delicious.
The Creperie is open for breakfast and lunch (9 am–1:30 pm), Monday through Friday. Stop in and say hi to Chef Ben and see what amazing creations he and his team have come up with.
