Your age doesn’t have to be written all over your face. Dr. Richard Gentile, a plastic surgeon with offices in Fairlawn and Independence, suggests several ways to diminish those pesky frown lines and wrinkles – all with a limited recovery time or none at all.

• Fractional Laser Treatments: For patients seeking less invasive, yet highly effective skin rejuvenation, ActiveFX and DeepFX, fractional laser treatments, are an option. Performed in a single treatment, these procedures involve laser resurfacing on only portions of the skin, leaving “bridges” of unaffected areas on the face. Minimal patient recovery time has made this procedure popular.

• Photorejuvenation: One popular fix is the Photofacial, an example of an Intensed Pulse Light (IPL) procedure, which refreshes skin and can even remove facial capillaries and brown spots. This treatment involves the application of pulses of intense light over the skin, damaging the vessels or lesions that one wants to remove.

• “Smart” Liposuction: For those who have concerns about other areas of the body, minimal liposuction, or SmartLipo, is an option. “This involves minimally invasive laser liposuction that melts the fat,” Gentile says. It’s good for people who are already in shape but want to target a specific area.” There is limited downtime for this procedure, ranging from several days to a week.

• Laser SMARTLifting: Patients who want the works should consider this laser-assisted facelift, which includes seven to 10 days of recovery. Featuring the same laser used for SmartLipo, this treatment has the added benefit of reducing wrinkles, as the laser strengthens collagen while simulta-neously lifting the face, forehead and neck.
